Almost 300 engineers engaged with VNIX-NOG 2020

On September 30, 2020, Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) successfully organized VNIX-NOG 2020 to engage almost 300 engineers and network operators in Viet Nam to participate and share information in network operation and emerging technologies. The conference was delivered by both onsite and online platform, bring in the widest possible range of local participants following government’s instructions on COVID-19 safety measurements. It was also supported by experts from regional Internet organization, including APNIC and APIX.

VNIX-NOG 2020 was taken place on 30^th September, 2020

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Director of Vietnam Internet Center shared that Viet Nam National Internet eXchange (VNIX) is an important digital infrastructure for the development of Internet services and digital transformation in Viet Nam. In July, 2020, VNNIC cooperated with ISC to install successfully the first DNS Root servers (F-Root) at VNIX in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh city, helping to reduce the dependency on oversea Root servers. We have seen a reduction in domain query response time by average from at least 5 times, improving access speed of Internet services over “.vn” domain in Viet Nam.

According to VNNIC's presentation, by September 2020, the number of VNIX members increased by 14% and VNIX bandwidth increased by 12.7%. Connecting to VNIX not only supports members to improve connection quality and save costs, but also create business opportunities throughout VNIX marketplace environment. With its neutral and non-profit model, VNIX has performed well its role in supporting small businesses, promoting the transparent Vietnam's Internet market.

Also in the conference program, other topics related to routing security were enjoyed and supported by the community, including RPKI deployment, Segment Routing and SDN.
