Carrying out activities within the scope of the MoU, VNNIC and KISA met up online, exchanged information and shared experiences in managing and developing Internet resources. One of highlights of the meeting is VNNIC and KISA agree to support and develop an idea of building DNS forum in the region.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has a strong impact on all aspects of life and poses new challenges and opportunities for the management and development of Internet resources. According to VNNIC’s representative, the year 2020 has seen the significant growth of “.vn” domain name queries, especially queries via IPv6. In April, as time COVID-19 outbreak in Viet Nam, the number of “.vn” queries increased by around 10-20%. Meanwhile, in Korea, the query of ".kr" domain increased steadily, reaching peak by 30% in increase, depending on the period of adopting Korean Government’s solutions to respond to the pandemic.
To meet the high requirement in safety and quality of Internet, VNNIC and KISA came up with the idea of establishing DNS forum in the region. The goal of the forum is to share information and experiences in improving the operation of DNS system and the quality of ccTLD service; to jointly cooperate in responding to problems related to DNS system. In the coming time, VNNIC and KISA will work together to initiate the idea and promote the participation and contribution of DNS operators in the region.
