VNNIC conducts the 2025 “Training on the Job” Program for Officials of the Lao National Internet Center

On November 7th in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) held the closing ceremony of the 2025 “Training on the Job” Program for officials of the Lao National Internet Center (LANIC) in Vietnam. The ceremony concluded a four-week training program that yielded numerous practical outcomes, contributing to the strengthening of LANIC’s capacity in the development and management of national Internet resources and infrastructure.

In the development of a national Internet ecosystem, Internet resources and national Internet infrastructure play a vital role in all digital activities—from network connectivity to the operation of online services. Advancing and expanding these resources (including “.vn” domain names and IP addresses) and the national Internet infrastructure is an essential, continuous task that must be carried out effectively and in accordance with international policies and best practices. This contributes significantly to the overarching goal of building a secure, modern, sustainable, and intelligent national Internet.

To strengthen LANIC’s capabilities in developing and managing national Internet resources and infrastructure, VNNIC organized the 2025 “Training on the Job” program for LANIC officials—a four-week course delivered by VNNIC’s team of highly experienced officers and engineers.

The training program focused on the following key areas: Design and administration of the national domain name management system in accordance with international SRS/EPP standards; Fundamentals of Ubuntu and operation of the national DNS system; Advanced knowledge on IPv6, IPv6 for DNS, and IPv6 and IPv6-Only transition strategies; The role of a national NIC in policy development, Internet resource management, and ensuring a secure and sustainable national Internet environment.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Acting Director of VNNIC, delivered the closing remarks.

Delivering the closing remarks, Mr. Nguyễn Trường Giang, Acting Director of VNNIC, emphasized that throughout the training program, LANIC participants had the opportunity to work closely with VNNIC officers and experts, exchanging experiences and learning both theoretical and practical knowledge in an open and collaborative atmosphere. This, he noted, reflects the closeness, goodwill, and genuine spirit of learning between the two organizations, as well as the long-standing friendship between Viet Nam and Laos.

VNNIC hopes that the training period and the knowledge gained from the program will serve as valuable assets for LANIC officials, making a practical contribution to the development, operation, and advancement of national Internet resources and infrastructure in Laos.

Mr. Saysomvang Souvannavong, Deputy Director of LANIC, delivered remarks at the ceremony

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Saysomvang Souvannavong, Deputy Director of LANIC, remarked that the training program had equipped participants with invaluable knowledge—from technology and technical operations to the role and strategic functions of a national NIC in building, managing, and developing essential national Internet resources and infrastructure. He affirmed that these insights will help LANIC confidently advance into the next phase of Internet development, while further strengthening the long-standing friendship between VNNIC and LANIC and building a solid foundation for sustained cooperation in the years ahead.

The program concluded successfully, marking a significant milestone in the enduring and robust partnership between VNNIC and LANIC—one rooted in mutual trust, friendship, and shared aspirations. Looking ahead, VNNIC reaffirms its commitment to deepening cooperation, providing continued support, and sharing knowledge and expertise with LANIC in Internet resource management, national Internet infrastructure development, and operational capacity enhancement. These joint efforts aim to contribute to building a secure, modern, and sustainable national Internet for Laos, supporting the country’s digital transformation and socio-economic progress.
