On 7th August, 2018, Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) achieved ISO/IEC 27001:20013 certification within the scope of operation and management of essential network systems in Viet Nam including the national DNS .VN, the Internet eXchange system and Internet data centers (IDCs) in Hanoi Capital, Danang city and Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2013, VNNIC already got ISO/IEC 27001:20013 certificate which was valid for 3 years (from June, 2015 to June, 2018) for the national DNS .VN and the IDC in Hanoi. By 2018, VNNIC continuously extended the validity of this certification. After a successful completion of an audit, VNNIC was awarded the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 within 3 years (from 2018 to 2021) for the national DNS .VN, the Internet eXchange system and 3 IDCs.

To successfully complete the re-assessment audit, VNNIC has been continually checking, assessing and improving their technical systems to meet the requirements of the ISOC 27001 standard as well as other international ICT frameworks and standards such as ISO-20000, ITIL and ISO-31000, etc. By implementing international information security standards, VNNIC has ensured the stability of the national DNS as well as the Internet activities in Viet Nam during 18 years without any incident.

Witnessing the certification event, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, the Director General of Authority of Information Security said that VNNIC has become the first and the only organization among Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) to implement ISO/IEC 27001 up to now.
