VNNIC implements bilateral cooperation with LANIC, LTRA in strategy, technology consulting for the development of the national Internet's infrastructure and resources

Implementing the bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) and Laos National Internet Center (LANIC), Laos Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (LTRA), from May 15th – 17th, in Vientiane, Laos, the representatives of Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (led by Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Director General) initiated a bilateral work program of training, strategic consulting on management, assurance of safe and reliable development of Internet resources; monitoring Internet resource activities, measuring Internet access speed.

Promoting support for Laos in managing and developing Internet resources and Internet infrastructure

Since 2005, Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) has established a bilateral cooperation relation with the Laos National Internet Center (LANIC), supporting LANIC in managing the Laos national domain name “.la”, training for the management and development of Laos’ Internet resources.

Implementing the bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Laos National Internet Center (LANIC) and the Laos Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (LTRA), assisting LANIC, LTRA in managing, developing, and ensuring the safety and reliability of Internet resources, monitoring Internet resource activities, and measuring Internet access speed, from May 15th–17th, VNNIC initiated the bilateral work program in Vientiane, Laos.

Within the framework of cooperation with LANIC, VNNIC carried out a consulting program on policies, management models, and strategy for the development of the Laos national domain name ".la", held a Workshop on National Important Internet Infrastructure Security, focusing on ensuring the security of the Registry system and technical solutions to improve the reliability of the country code top-level domain name. Within the framework of cooperation with LTRA, VNNIC carried out a program to help with technology and the roadmap to develop an Internet speed measurement system in Laos, held a Workshop on Technology, operation, statistics and analysis of Internet speed data.

During the time in Laos, VNNIC’s representatives were honored to meet the Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Technology and Communications of Laos, including Deputy Minister Keovisouk Solaphom, who is in charge of digital transformation, information security,..), and Deputy Minister Xayluxa Insisiengmay, who is in charge of telecommunications and radio frequency. VNNIC, with LANIC, and LTRA, reported to the Deputy Ministers on the content,  results of cooperation, and the joint plans among parties in the coming time according to the signed bilateral memorandum of understanding.

On November 7th in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) held the closing ceremony of the 2025 “Training on the Job” Program for officials of the Lao National Internet Center (LANIC) in Vietnam. The ceremony concluded a four-week training program that yielded numerous practical outcomes, contributing to the strengthening of LANIC’s capacity in the development and management of national Internet resources and infrastructure.

From September 9th to 11th, Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), in collaboration with APNIC, organized the 60th Member Meeting of the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC 60) in Da Nang City.

On 16 January 2025, at the headquarters of Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) in Hanoi, VNNIC welcomed and held a bilateral working session with the delegation of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The two sides shared experiences in the management of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASN), and discussed the promotion of IPv6 deployment to enhance cooperation in the development of Internet resources and the national Internet infrastructure. This was VNNIC’s first bilateral activity in 2025.

From May 8th - 9th, 2025, the Asia-Pacific Domain Name System Forum (APAC DNS Forum 2025) took place in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The event was co-organized by the Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), serving as the local host, in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

On 18 October 2024, the National Internet eXchange Member Meeting (VNIX-NOG 2024), organized by Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC), took place in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province. The conference focused on technical and technological discussions, sharing network infrastructure operation and management experiences, and strengthening peering and remote peering connections. It also explored the application of emerging technologies to develop advanced management platforms, improving the efficiency of network infrastructure operations, network data utilization, and enhancing the quality and security of Viet Nam’s Internet infrastructure.
